Registration

One of The NHPC’s mandates is to Register and License all health professionals and regulate their professional conduct. All health professionals must register upon graduation and before commencing work using the Health Professional Registration form. The council issues 3 classes of registration, namely Provisional registration, Permanent Registration, and Specialist Registration. All applications can take up to 30 days. In addition, registered health professionals must comply with the code of conduct and all health regulations that apply to their profession. Failure to comply, is a disciplinary offence and can mean that the health professional is barred from practicing. Requirements for registration are listed below, and relevant proofs and documents must be submitted with the application form.


As part of the NHPC’s duties all practicing health professionals (citizens and foreigners) in Somalia must be registered and licensed.


According to Act of the National Council of Health Professionals Lr.31, Articles 25-29, the following requirement must be attained prior registration of health Professionals.

  1. Certified copies of Academic Certificates and Transcripts attested by Somali ministries of Higher Education
  2. Curricolum Vitae
  3. Certified internship certificate of the academic institution with proven rotation for MBBS
  4. Secondary school certificate.
  5. Copy of Identity card or passport.
  6. Recent Passport size photographs.
  7. Criminal Clearance Letter
  8. If studied outside the country attestation from the embassy.
