Accreditation of Educational Institutions and Programs

Overview

Accreditation is a key part of the NHPC Registration and Accreditation Scheme. Accreditation functions are defined in the National Health Professionals Council’s Act (Lr.31). Accreditation functions are to:

  1. Develop accreditation regulation that establishes the standards, requirements and processes for accreditation of health education institutions and training programs, for entry to practise in the health professions regulated by the Council.
  2. Accredit and monitor education providers and programs of study to ensure that graduates are provided with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes to safely practise the profession in Somalia.
  3. Assess overseas qualified practitioners
  4. Assess overseas accrediting authorities.

Article 1; Pragraph 2; Letter (e) and Article 24; Paragraph 1 of the NHPC Act (Lr.31.) contains the regulations around Accreditation of educational institutions and programs.
